Hosted Services

Nextcloud - regaining control of my data

Instance - Saura’s Nextcloud

Nextcloud is an open source self hosted cloud solution where I backup my files, media, contacts and other data for safekeeping. The instance is for personal use since the size of my server is relatively small and it cannot handle too many users at once. But I have kept the registration to the service open in case someone wants to explore the inside of it. The account will be deleted after 24 hours of creation.

Bitwarden - solving password management problems

Instance - Saura’s Bitwarden

Bitwarden is a password manager that I settled with after trying out a few others. It is completely open source and can be self hosted by anyone. There are apps available for all platforms and addons for all browsers so that you can have your passwords at your fingertips everywhere. I have this service available to the public, so feel free to sign up and make use of it. You won’t ever have to remember your passwords again. I will only be able to see the email that you use to sign up. All your passwords will be encrypted with AES-256 and PBKDF2 by the Master Password that you set and thus can only be accessed by you.

SearX - performing web searches on my own terms

Instance - Saura’s SearX

SearX is an open source meta search engine that fetches results from other search engines using a bunch of python scripts. This way I can skip unwanted advertisements and forget the fear of being tracked. This service is also open for use by all, but I have put a lock on the Preferences to avoid abuse. You can only search using the default settings. If you want to be able to change preferences, write me an email and we’ll see what we can do about it.

YOURLS - Your Own URL Shortener

Instance - Saura’s URL Shortener

YOURLS is open source and runs a bunch of php scripts to convert those lengthy URLs that you have into short and easy to remember URLs. The service is public and free for all to use. Either generate a random URL or customize it, YOURLS choice. There is even an option to switch between two available base URLs.

Jirafeau - one click file drop and share

Instance - File Share by Saura

Another open source service that I have hosted for easy peer to peer file sharing. Drag and drop, set an expiry, copy the file link and send it to your peer so that they can download the file that you just shared. It is open to the public.

Gitea - just like Github but so much better

Instance - Saura’s Gitea

Well, you are already on my Gitea instance if you are reading this page. It is a simple, easy-to-use, yet full-featured and completely open source code hosting solution. Registrations are open for all but make sure you send me an email after you sign up so that we can discuss terms of use. If I see any user account which I don’t have knowledge of, I will take it down.

Rainloop - an email client for the web browser

Instance - Saura’s Webmail

Rainloop is an open source webmail client with a lot of basic features. It is useful for people like me when we don’t have access to our devices where we use email clients like Thunderbird (on PC) and FairEmail (on Android) for managing emails. The domains supported for now are @sasach.work, @sasach.me, @riseup.net and @mailbox.org. I won’t ever add support for GMail for obvious reasons.
